Bulls Regain Winning Form, Rout Memphis in Inaugural St. Petersburg Bowl

The USF Bulls of December 2008 looked a lot like the Bulls of September. Taking on Memphis in the inaugural magicJack St. Petersburg Bowl, the Bulls scored in the first two minutes and never trailed enroute to a 41-14 dismantling of their former CUSA conference mate.

The talent and speed gap between the two teams was evident early, as the offense moved at will against an overmatched Tiger defense and the Memphis attack was held in check for most of the game. Matt Grothe threw for 236 yards and 3 TDs and ran for another 83, outgaining the entire Memphis team by himself. Taurus Johnson, Dontavia Bogan, and Ben Busbee all caught Grothe TD passes, and Ben Williams and Mo Plancher added TDs on the ground.

The Bulls end the 2008 campaign at 8-5. See you next year, and GO BULLS!
